Aiden Beach-Blogpost 9

My issue is a fairly common complaint; when people read a false statement off of one website or article they found and are too stubborn to admit they are entirely wrong about that subject. Flat-earthers are a good example. As an experiment, I went to a flat-Earth server on Discord. The rules of the server clearly stated that all opinions are welcome as long as they are backed up with evidence, but when I scrolled through the message history of the chat channels, it was filled to the brim with insults by flat-earthers providing no evidence for their claims. I checked multiple other chatting apps of flat-earthers as well, as well as interviews online with flat-earthers at flat-earth conventions (yes, these are a thing), and it was the same for all of them.

However, flat-earthers aren’t causing anyone any trouble. The real problem lies with groups like anti-vaxxers and 5G-conspiracists, whose actions are making everything worse during a global pandemic. There are barely any articles against vaccinations, all of which are completely debunked by many articles from actual professionals saying there is nothing wrong with vaccinating your kids, yet many diseases that were almost eradicated are coming back because of so many people refusing to vaccinate their kids.
