Thanksgiving isn't exactly one of my favorite holidays. I always found it boring, and recently I've come to realize that it's America's way of covering over the fact that we've killed hundreds of thousands of Native Americans in our endless conquest of territory. But, at least I get to see some family. Every other year, we either go over to my aunt's house in Madisonville, Kentucky or go to my grandmother's house here in Lexington. At my aunt's house, it's a big family reunion with some people I honestly don't remember how I'm related to, where everyone brings one item like a potluck (we usually bring corn pudding). We went to my grandma's house this year. She always insists on making the vast majority of the food; we only ended up bringing macaroni and cheese and stuffing this year. The strangest memory I've probably had on Thanksgiving was when my uncle came over to our house and would not stop petting our dog, despite the fact that he is very opposed to having a dog at his own house.
