The only extracurricular activities I participate in are band and soccer. These activities are part of culture all around the world. For example, brass bands in New Orleans are a massive part of the culture there, with sometimes thousands of people crowding into an amphitheater to see a small-time brass band play. The biggest brass bands to come out of New Orleans, including my personal favorite, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, perform every year at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival with a peak attendance of 300,000 people. Only 390,128 people are living in New Orleans. This statistic means that over three-quarters of the population, give or take for the people who come from out of town, attended that concert. For three-quarters of a community to be doing anything would mean that it is culturally significant. Soccer, on the other hand, is much larger in the world as a whole than New Orleans Brass Bands.
