I personally don’t watch any TV. I watch services such as Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, and Twitch (a live streaming service for individual creators), which don't show nearly as many ads as cable television. Youtube and Twitch also allow for a much smaller attention span, which is more fitting for the younger generations. Surveys show that the population of people watching television is slowly dropping, with younger people moving to services such as those I listed, and the older generations staying on cable TV. Eventually, streaming services will overtake cable television services as the leading entertainment service.
I don't think it is that important that the Emmys get more time in the spotlight than the Nobel prizes, it merely reflects what the people are more enthusiastic about. People spend countless hours watching television, but don't spend countless hours studying the nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize, which isn’t necessarily bad, but appropriate.
