A holiday story I've recently become familiar with again is that of Rudolph. I recently agreed to covering the song with a friend of mine, and upon my relisten of the song, I realized how absurd the story is. Rudolph, after presumably what had been years of bullying by the other reindeers, is somehow accepted once Sant finally finds utility for his unusually shiny nose? In my continuation of the story, we find that the other reindeers’ rejoice when they shout “yippee!” is really just them sucking up to Santa, trying to get onto his good side, while they actually still have a deep seated resentment for Rudolph, the one that they all bullied suddenly being Santa’s favourite. In future years, the other reindeer sabotage rudolph’s equipment so that he detaches from Santa’s sleigh on Christmas night, and is stranded in Northern Greenland not knowing where he is. Huh, I guess this really just turned into a Rudolph the red nosed reindeer fanfic.
