When i was a kid i was afforded the opportunity to travel to Ireland for 3 months due to my fathers’ work and I got to see so much. I got to visit castles and small villages in more secluded parts of Ireland and Scotland. However, I think one of the coolest experiences was being able to actually say in a castle overnight. The family had inherited said castle and then renovated and turned it into a hotel yet kept much of the authenticity. The halls lined with original suits of armor and weaponry, the walls made of the original stone, and there was even a torture room which people could walk through and see all the well maintained gruesome contraptions. Although it may seem scary or whatnot it was a very cool experience and a real peak back into time. Another cool thing that really changed my perspective was the fact that when we were there we found out that both on my moms and dads side of the family we had ancestors who owned castles and we actually got to visit these castles. It was a great experience to be able to learn about our past as a whole and our family history. One thing that in the end and probably even as i got older that i realized is that i should have been more in the moment and less alienated to all the amazing things around me. It would be a blessing to take a trip like this now but as a child you tend not to see things on the greeter scale and end up taking things for granted. Try to be in the moment, as they pass sooner than they come.
