Assignment 13 Garrett Peavler
In modern times there are a lot of things that could threaten the continuation of the human race, artificial intelligence, disease, global warming, but none of them pose the same threat that nuclear weapons do. Nuclear weapons can cause devastating damage and can be launched at moments notice if the proper clearances are given. As the number of nuclear weapons goes up the danger that they pose also goes up. It is no secret that something has to be done to reduce the amount of nuclear weapons being stock piled, which is why congress has recently passed the "Pretty Please Initiative". This requires that the president write a heart warming, slightly seductive letter to the heads of all major nuclear powers saying, "Please, pretty please, will you maybe just get rid of some of your nuclear weapons? It would mean the world to me...." It is unclear whether or not this strategy will be effective, but analysts predict that it will be slightly more effective than the current strategy which is to hide in a corner and hope that things work themselves out, still we will just have to wait and see.
