Assignment 9- Will Stone

Social media is ruining our country.  What started as a fun way for people to interact with each other has taken time away from in-person relationships. My parents would not allow me to get a social media account when I was younger, but I still don’t have one now because I don’t want one.  I don’t want to put things about myself out there for everyone in the world to see.

We watched The Social Dilemma one night, and it showed how much social media could run the world and change people’s feelings and beliefs. Groups can post false information, and it spreads to the population so quickly. It starts to control teenagers' minds (and adults), and they can’t live without viewing their streams and posting pictures. Many people spend so much time on their phones that they don’t get enough sleep.  Families also lose time together when everyone is on their separate devices. Something that started as a way to connect people has begun to disconnect us.
